Colossians 1:17

Hello again-- sorry this is coming so late but it's still worth taking the time to read. Just a few notes about today's devotional. In light of our nation's decision to commence bombing in Afghanistan, I thought it was important that we remember that God is in control, even in the darkest of hours. Despite the decisions of others and the repercussions that are sure to follow, the best thing that we can do is turn to God in prayer, and to trust that he will work things out. Just remember that with God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37)!

"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
Colossians 1:17 (NIV)

When I read this verse, it makes me think of Jesus holding together my molecules. Think about it. Who else could hold them together? Not only is He the Creator of the universe, but He is also the One who sustains it! He is powerful enough to control everything. And he loves you as his closest friend.

Lord, help me to understand more and more of Your greatness so I can praise You better!
Scripture quoted from Holy Bible, New International Version. Wheaton: Tyndale House, 1988.
