If God Seems Far Away

Do you ever feel like you're doing everything you can to develop your relationship with God yet he still feels miles away? That's exactly the problem that the prophet Jeremiah had, as expressed in Lamentations. The entire book is a funeral song, written for the city of Jerusalem, whose fall he was an eyewitness to (check out Jeremiah chpts 39 and 52 for more details). Jeremiah was as faithful to God as he could be, but he still suffered physically and emotionally (read Lamentations chpts 1-2 for a better understanding....the imagery is very vivid ).

Despite his incredible pain, Jeremiah continued to trust God, and eventually was able to draw nearer to him. Keep the faith, even when you feel most discouraged, because God is faithful and is "good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;" (Lamentations 3:25,NIV).
