"Vulture" Appetites

This devotional attracted me because it reminded me of the pigeon (!) that I saw flying around Hewitt today at dinner.....

Today's devotional has to do with our worldly habits-- those things we continue to do that are not pleasing to God. The author talks about it in terms of satisfaction, and suggests that engaging in activities or actions which inhibit our walk with God provides a (false) sense of satisfaction. I would argue that we desire to continue because we are not feeling satisfied. If a particular activity provides a temporary sense of happiness, it often takes even more the next time to achieve the same level of "satisfaction." God will not tempt us any more than we can handle (1 corinthians 10:13), and by allowing ourselves to continue in these activities, we are "giving place to the devil" (ephesians 4:27). The Bible tells us that if we submit ourselves to God, and resist Satan (and what he offers us), that he will flee (james 4:7). As God for the strength to rid yourself of your old sinful habits.

Much Love,
