Young Examples

I really like this verse because it addresses something that we, as young people, face all the time. I don't know how many times that I've been discouraged or prevented from doing something because I was "too young." The cool thing about this verse is that it reminds us that we are never to young to share the gospel. We should be living testimonies of God's grace, and the new creation he has transformed us into should be evident through our actions as well as our words. Setting an example with our own lives is the best testimony we could ever give.

Young Examples
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech,
in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
(1 Timothy 4:12 NIV)

Don't think this applies to you? Think again. When Paul wrote this to Timothy, Timothy was in his thirties. It was custom for people to wait until they were in their thirties to begin their ministry. Jesus also did this. So if you don't feel "young," remember that this verse is still for you. Be an example for others in everything you do.

Lord, help me to be an example for others.

Holy Bible, New International Version.
Wheaton: Tyndale House, 1988.
