Love is always a difficult subject, because it's very hard for us to truly understand love, as God intended it. We're petty and hypocritical. We often hold grudges and hold others to standards we ourselves can not even hope to maintain. We can be fickle and inconsistent, none of which bodes well for a relationship of any kind.
The best way to learn about love is to look at Jesus, and the example he set for us culminating in the ultimate sacrifice.
