Love Song for A Savior

Happy Valentine's Day! A friend recently pointed out to me that they missed receiving these devotionals, so i thought i'd dust the cobwebs off and share a few of the things i have rattling around in my head. you never know what you'll find in there during the wee hours of the morning....

Psalm 37:5-7
5 Your love, O LORD , reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
O LORD , you preserve both man and beast.
7 How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men
find refuge in the shadow of your wings.

This weekend is recruiting weekend for my department. This puts quite a burden on the current students and faculty, because it takes away from time that people want to be spending with their significant others. As a member of the recruitment committee, i was responsible for finding volunteers to attend the various events, a task that was exceedingly diffcult, especially for valentine's day night.

Every year on this day, couples all over the country go out of their way to spend time together and to do special things for each other. If we take out this much time for our boyfriends/girlfriends how much more time should we be dedicating to our God, the only one who is truly faithful, all the time. Some of you may know what it's like to be in love-- take that feeling and raise it to the millionth power, and it's still only a fraction of the love that God has for us. He loves us so much that he sent his only son to die on that cross so that we could experience life, in spite of our continual failures. On this valentine's day, don't forget to spend some time with the man upstairs. Third Day had the right idea setting this psalm to music, as it really is a "Love Song for a Savior."
